OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUSTER

In order to optimize synergies and avoid overlaps between the projects selected for funding from the call SC1-BHC-27-2018 ‘New testing and screening methods to identify endocrine disrupting chemicals’, the projects will form a cluster.

It is named EURION for “European Cluster to Improve Identification of Endocrine Disruptors”. This cluster was launched on January 1st 2019.

Interactions will be created with other winning ED testing projects with the aim of sharing information and capacities. Partners will contribute to the establishment of a cluster of projects on endocrine disruptors testing in the EU, in order and share expertise and to optimize maximize the impact of ED projects. OBERON partners can provide expertise in different fields such as toxicology, epidemiology, computer sciences and modeling. If needed, partners will assess how to provide access to tools, interpretation capacities and facilities to other selected projects.

CLUSTER COMPOSITION

GOLIATH and OBERON will lead the cluster organization during the first 18 months of the project.

SCREENED

Development of three-dimensional (3D) cell-based in vitro tests to better characterize the effects of endocrine disruptors on thyroid functions. This method will overcome the limitations of existing tests, being more sensitive, also at low doses of exposure to chemicals, and enabling the prediction of their toxicity on human health in a sex-specific manner
